In 1635, Rubens bought the castle in Elewijt and stayed there during the summer months with his wife and offspring. We named our bar after this important event. Visit Bar 1635 to enjoy a wide range of local artisan beers, Belgian wines, soft drinks, local fruit juices or kombucha.

Fancy a small snack or are you so hungry you could eat a horse? We’ve got something for everyone on our - mainly vegetarian - menu. There are some vegan dishes, as well as weekly suggestions with room for sustainable meat dishes.

We use local, seasonal or fair trade products whenever possible.
