The Camp Quarter (Playground) - coordination Heirweg I vzw
Elewijt vzw Heirweg I is working with its so-called voluntarii (volunteers) on a new Roman site in the contours of Elewijt. The reenactor association has already realised many projects in recent years, including a replica Minerva chariot from 1914, the medieval Wild Furda and a Napoleonic encampment. Of course, Rubens and the turbulent era in which he lived cannot be missing. Therefore...do gy also hear the Spaensche/Staatse drums beating? The TACHTIAN WAR is approaching!
The Malines Guild of Arquebusiers
The Mechelen Kolveniersgilde dates back to 1453 and was re-established 40 years ago. The Guild shoots with firearms and owns its own shooting range.Since its re-establishment, the Mechelen Kolveniersgilde has owned a lot of historical objects and weapons: banner, King's Breach, guild silver, halberds, partisans and a beautiful guild book. The Guild takes part in historical events and connects the historical past with contemporary society.
St. Sebastiaansgilde
The Royal St Sebastiaansgilde of Weerde is the oldest association in Zemst.
It mainly engages in hand archery and folklore.
Once a year there is a king's shooting on the seesaw meadow with old rituals and in traditional costume. During the feast of St Sebastian, a tar festival is held, also in traditional attire. The Guild is more than a folkloric sports club: it is an ancient brotherhood that also plays a social role.
Antwerp's St Michiels Guild
On 27 March 2015, the St Michiels Guild was re-established. This is the heir to the officially recognised Antwerp fencing guild from 1488. The St Michiels Guild is a vibrant contemporary organisation respecting its rich history and centuries-old traditions, with active branches in Antwerp and Gouda. They focus on the martial system of late medieval Master Johannes Liechtenauer, with a focus on weapons such as the longsword, rapier, staff and dagger.
Den Spiesdraegers 1625 (NL)
Den Spiesdraegers 1625 depicts a unit of pikemen serving during the Eighty Years' War, the time when Rubens lived. Both veterans and new recruits are re-drilled according to the rules of the art, as prescribed by Prince Maurice. The camp followers and soetelaersters create a living encampment where they live together with the soldiers.
